General Course Information

Accommodation and Food

The UK Oxford Cello School courses take place at Pangbourne College. Set in beautiful grounds, the college boasts an extensive range of facilities and comfortable accommodation available in single rooms or small dormitories of up to 3 beds. Students are supervised by a team of experienced house staff to ensure that each student has a happy and comfortable stay. All meals are provided for residential students; lunch and afternoon tea are provided for non-residential students.

ABRSM Exams

Associated Board Exams will take place on Friday 4th August 2023. Students wishing to take an exam must enrol on the Exam Booster Course and have the permission of their teachers. Exam entry will be dealt with on a separate form sent out after we receive your application.

 

Evening Activities

Afternoon and evening activities are organised every day. These consist of a variety of activities examples including concerts and recitals, drumming, games, swimming, curry nights, an informal concert, a table tennis competition (where students and staff battle it out for the prestigious 'Paddle of Power') and a ceilidh. These are organised by our specialist support staff which is headed by a professional school sports teacher. The pool is available for an hour per day. Sessions are always supervised by Pangbourne College's professional lifeguards.

Cello Hire

Cellos can be hired, for course dates only, at a cost of 105 GBP. We prioritize hire-cellos for students coming from overseas. Cello hire can be requested on the 'extras' form which will be made available to students on the 'pre-course information' page of the website  in early May.

Enrolment Information

Applications received after the 15th June cannot be guaranteed. A few bursaries are available. Please request the special form which must returned after having already submitted an application form. Bursary applications are considered on a case by case basis. The deadline for bursary application is 31st March 2023.

 

Methods of Payment

Payment can be made by one of the following methods only:-

 

- Payment in full

- A deposit of £200 with application: Balance payable by 5th June 2023.

 

Cheques must be made out in GBP, payable to "Oxford Cello School" and sent to the address below.

 

Bank account details available upon request.

For payments from overseas bank accounts we highly recommend using Wise.com to take advantage of the actual exchange rate and to avoid unnecessary bank charges.

Conditions

The OCS reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the programme.

In the event of a cancellation, for whatever reason, the following disbursements will apply:

•Not less than 8 weeks before the course commences, full refund less £50.

•Less than 8 weeks but not less than 4 weeks before the course commences, 50% refund less £100.

•Less than 4 weeks before or during the course, the fee is payable in full.

•All charges resulting from payments made from outside the UK are payable by the applicant
