General Course Information
Accommodation and Food
The Oxford Cello School courses take place at Malvern College. Set in beautiful grounds, the college boasts an extensive range of facilities and comfortable accommodation. All adult course residential students will have en-suite single rooms. Our younger students will be housed in single rooms or small dormitories. Students are supervised by a team of experienced house staff to ensure that each student has a happy and comfortable stay. All meals and tea/coffee throughout the day are provided for residential students. Lunch, dinner and tea/coffee facilities are provided for non-residential students.
Afternoon and evening activities are organised every day. These consist of a variety of activities examples including concerts and recitals, drumming, games, swimming, curry nights, an informal concert, a table tennis competition (where students and staff battle it out for the prestigious 'Paddle of Power') and a ceilidh. These are organised by our specialist support staff which is headed by a professional school sports teacher. The pool is available for an hour per day. Sessions are always supervised by professional lifeguards.
Cellos can be hired, for course dates only, at a cost of 108 GBP. We prioritize hire-cellos for students coming from overseas. Cello hire can be requested on the 'extras' form which will be made available to students on the 'pre-course information' page of the website in early May.
Applications received after the 10th July cannot be guaranteed. A few bursaries are available. Please request the special form which must returned after having already submitted an application form. Bursary applications are considered on a case by case basis. The deadline for bursary application is 30th April 2024.
