The Advanced Course is designed to provide a wide breadth of study for bassists of grade 7 to post grade 8 standard. This exciting course aims to reinforce and build upon an understanding of all the essential elements of double bass technique in a lively and engaging atmosphere. Our innovative approach includes video analysis sessions which augment the tutor's feedback and provides effective enhancement and solutions.
The primary aims of this course are to boost students' enthusiasm for the double bass through music making and to encourage a sound basic technique. We believe passionately in using sight-reading, ensemble playing and improvisation to instil a sense of musicianship in each student. Rhythm and aural sessions back up the various double bass activities.
The courses include:
• Individual Lessons
• Video Analysis
• Technique and scales sessions in small groups
• Improvisation / blues and jazz workshop
• Ensemble playing
• Masterclass (by audition)
• Performance opportunities
• Workshops
• Orchestra (with the cellists)
